How do I check if I have a connection with my range extender?

How do I check if I have a connection with my range extender?

In this FAQ we will assume that you have configured the range extender. Is this not the case? Click here for more info about the installation.

You have installed your range extender, and now you want to know whether the connection has been established.

Windows

For Windows, perform the following steps to check the connection.

1.    Go to the icon in the bottom right corner of your screen, marked blue below.

2.    Left-click it once.
3.    The following window (list) will now open.

This window shows all the wireless networks found by your device.

4.    After proper installation and configuration, the range extender adopts the name of your network router (or modem router) and adds _EXT to it.

Please note! If you changed your range extender's network name in the settings menu in the past, you naturally need to look for that name.

Please note! If your range extender's network name does not appear immediately, refresh the list by clicking the appropriate button (marked in red in the picture).

If your device is not connected to the range extender’s network, double-click the network name to establish a connection.

You almost always need to enter a network security key if you want to make a connection. This is the same password you use to connect to your router (or modem router).

Mac OS

For Mac OS, perform the following steps to check the connection.

1.    Go to the network icon in the upper right corner of your screen.

2.    Now click on the network icon.
3.    The following list will then appear.

If your range extender's network name does not appear immediately, refresh the list by switching Wi-Fi off and on (marked in blauw in the picture). Your Mac will refresh the list of all available networks.

If your device is not connected to the range extender’s network, double-click the network name to establish a connection.

You almost always need to enter a network security key if you want to make a connection. This is the same password you use to connect to your router (or modem router).
